We are proud to announce the return of Cinema East for its second season of outdoor film screenings. Cinema East 2011 presents a selection of 16 films to be screened outdoors on the French Legation Museum's lawn. The films screen every other Sunday throughout the summer. For only $3 at the door, guests can build their own picnic from mobile bistros brought by the HOPE FARMERS MARKET, offering film-goers a selection of fresh, seasonal, locally produced food. Each film will be preceded with a DJ playing music associated with the filmʼs subject matter.
Cinema East features independent film selections from Sundance, Tribeca, Marfa, and our very own SXSW and Austin Film Festivals. We also hold a unique post-screening open dialogue between the creators and audience. Our series will not only play host to a number of outstanding films, but also to food vendors, giveaways from local sponsors, a relaxed outdoor atmosphere, and more! Screenings are all-ages, bike and BYOB, and fully compatible with blankets or lawn chairs of all varieties! In addition, each screening is followed by an after party at nearby locations to be announced.
Cinema East is a place where all can come to comfortably enjoy premier independent films without the stress or price of many larger festivals. We’re proud to stand behind our community and happy to be able to offer these extraordinary films to casual moviegoers and aficionados alike.
